My question, or rather I'd like your thoughts on, is the idea of connecting upstair's consumer unit to the downstair's one.
now how the hell is that going to work ,when there is two meters flat 1and flat 2 ,you will have to speak to the suppliers then ?

Interesting really, well off enough to buy an extra flat just for utility and storage use, yet too tight fisted and seemingly arrogant to pay for a professional to carry out a safe and compliant electrical alteration at relatively little cost. Sadly this attitude seems increasingly prevalent these days.
