Can somebody please help i have a consumer unit change a 6way wylex board that only just fits into the meter cuboard is it legal and within the regs
to use a 6 way board with only one RCD for protection of the 5 circuits as this is the only board that will fit into the space although there is plenty of room to work in cuboard this is my first post so be gentle

Why not use RCBOs and jobs a good un! Designa curve have one with 7 RCBOs about 75 nicker

I suppose technically just providing a single up front RCD could be seen as going against regulation 314.1 and division of installation. As I assume this is a domestic situation then to be totally honest I don't think it would be that much of a problem, unless there are circumstances that dictate that the installation failing could be dangerous and inconvenient.

There are ways round this in my opinion.

As it is such a small installation think about using RCBOs now not that more expensive.

Fit a non maintained emergency light within the property so on failure of lighting circuit it will provide light. ( Could also fit one in the Electrical cupboard)

If space is tight the only way to go is RCBO's for all circuits. Installing a board with 1 RCD is not acceptable.

As already said, main sw CU with RCBO for each circuit.
If you are not part P registered then you will need to notify LBC in advance.
