Hi,

I’m trying to terminate three 2.5mm cables within one termination block, but no matter how tight I twist them I cannot terminate them within the same block. Can anyone suggest a method of terminating these cables within the block? CU has wire cartridges and was probably installed when the house was built around 1969. Should I use one of these and can anyone suggest the correct size …………

Dont use those as they are designed for flex only. What do you mean by termination block?

When you say 'block', do you mean connector block?

If so then you can connect 2 cores into one side of the connector and 1 core into the other end.

If your 1969 estimate is correct then you're probably due a consumer unit upgrade and maybe a rewire-have you had the installation checked by a competent electrician?

I believe a single accessory can be spurred off of the CU same as any other point of the ring (if we are talking rings here)??

An accessory, a suitable junction box or at the origin of the circuit.
This scenario seems to struggle to fit into the above!

I wouldn't be twisting any cables together it fatigues the conductors. Worst case pull back one leg of the ring assuming thats the circuit your working on put it in a JB with the third radial circuit mount outside the board either on the wall or secured under the floor if suspended, then carry on the ring into the consumer unit this will then leave you with 2 conductors to terminate. Would also add get someone in if your not entirely confident.

Thanks for the replies so far.

Due to its location there are no accessible junctions to spur from the ring inside the property, thus i am spuring directly from the CU on the same circuit as the ring a two gang socket. By "block" I mean live/load block under the removable wire fuse.
