Hi

I have a front end off a crashed motorbike that I have decided to turn into a light for my garage. The piece has 2X 12v 55w bulbs. Please advise on what transformer I would need to power it up. Is it as simple as 240v- 12v *a?

Thanks

But they don't look right! If this is to be an artistic piece then he'll want the warm glow of a tungsten source rather than the harsh white of an led source.
Which then begs the question of whether he want full brightness or dimmed?

I may have misunderstood the OP but I've read it as being an artistic feature for the wall of a commercial garage.

As already mentioned, modern multi stage chargers are not a good idea here, another is lighting transformers, or as should be referred to, transformless psu`s. Problem here again, especially with cheap crap, is the pcb.....very hard, to design the tracks thick enough to handle 10A +.....Try looking for a good old wirewound transformer in surplus or fleebay, will outlast any modern lighting driver

Sound advice from Tazz. 'Old fashioned' wire-wound transformers are about the most reliable thing you can get. Daz
