I have a gas cooker with an electric grill, can this be plugged into a normal socket or does it need to be plugged into the specific cooker socket. Thanks in advance.

Hi, it's a gas hob, top and bottom oven with an electric grill. It came with a normal plug attached but was advised at time of installation 15 months ago it needed to be plugged into the cooker socket. I've have no idea about ratings as I'm not an electrician, mum of 3 slightly loosing the will to live!!!

I am looking for advice, I am not an electrician or gas engineer and unfortunately have to take what I've been told as being correct. Thank you for your assistance with this.

pipsxx, it's fine to plug it in. the grill will only be a couple of kW. most of the kW rating you quoted is for the gas ovens and hob. the problem you might have is if you replace the cooker at some time in the future for one with electric ovens. then you may need a dedicated circuit, but for the cooker you've got now, just plug it in.
