Copper bath, bond or not?

Evenin all!

hope ive put this in the correct forum, apologies if not.

doing a domestic job at the moment and the customer has had the bright idea of having a copper bath installed. The taps are fitted to the wall and the waste is plastic. do i need to bond the bath. im thinking not, as long as the bathroom circuits are rcd protected. im just concerned.

what do you think?

Are the Hot and Cold pipes plastic?

I think they are copper, not sure i can check when i go back. there is a metal light fitting though, within reach of the bath (outside zone 2) which is earthed.

I think you should take a measurement between external and extraneous conductive parts to start with.

The bath itself will only need bonding if it is in contact with structural steelwork....otherwise metallic sevices entering the bathroom will require supplementary bonding unless the 3 conditions to omit are met.....1 All circuits within the bathroom are protected by a 30ma rcd....2 required disconnection times are met....3 a continuity reading of less than 1667 ohms is obtained between conductive and extraneous conductive parts within the bathroom.....Pay attention in particular to the definition in the BRB of extraneous conductive parts,this is where most of the confusion arises,generally a copper bath would not be an extraneous conductive part but copper pipes supplying it may well be.

I thought copper baths were traditionally filled with hot water boiled on a stove

Hate to think how much it cost them!
