I'm currently doing a 2357-608 assignment on fault finding and I have this question,

Describe, for this installation, Two types of faults most likely to occur in each of the following;
A) Wiring systems in the loft space above the first floor.
B) Equipment and accessories in the intake room.

Now the only thing I can really think of is a heat factor applying to both A&B, but I'm unsure weather that would necessarily be correct?
To my understanding, the resistance would increase with the cables getting hotter (potentially causing a fault/fire) but;
a) would that apply to both
b) what other likely faults would occur in A & B?

If I recall correctly on your plan there is a mains water pipe in the intake room, if this was to leak it could spray water over the electrical equipment / accessories in the room? It's been nearly a year since I did that unit so I can't remember exactly what was on the plan.

Goes to show how well my college is going when I've not even been given a plan yet

Not on the C&G course and do not know this assignment.
Something that comes to mind for A could be fault conditions caused by severe rodent damage to cables. Agree heat damage is another good one if buried under thermal insulation - especially if additional has been installed years after the electrical installation was carried out and this was not taken into consideration in the design.
B - possible damage to equipment enclosures/strain on terminations if used as a general store with stuff banging/handing of electrical equipment. Perhaps heat again if buried under junk. Depends what an 'intake room' is meant to be for your assignment. Does it specify whether it is a residential dwelling, light commercial unit etc?

There is no direct specification to what or where the intake room is or weather its residential or commercial. Basically I got this assignment on Monday and have 1 month to do it, but because it's a 2 part assignment I thought if I completed it this week then maybe I could get the 2nd one next week and get that nailed off too... maybe I'm missing drawings/more information towards this assignment but this is the only question I haven't been able to answer as the rest have been pretty straight forward...
Thanks for you help though @soms

A) could be stuff like rodent damage, dampness, thermal factors (Mr Loft Insulator has chucked a load more insulation over the cable) etc

B) could be stuff like loose connections, failed MCBs or RCDs (or other switchgear, it does happen) etc

(And this assignment is exactly the same as mine from 2365 L3 - the assignment is related to sheltered accomodation. Drop me a PM and I'll send you the drawings)
