can someone reccomend the best course to go on is it the city and guilds or another private run course. niceic cost is 580.00 plus vat .

A course provides some sort of level of competance for your assessment.
NICEIC course I beleive is classroom only - no practical. There are other courses other than C&G. If your planning to register with NICEIC I believe they like to see some working at heights and risk assessment courses as well.
When at Elex Exeter earlier this year there were some training companies doing PV courses in the Exeter area. Maybe you can google for them. I can give you details of a particular course in Wiltshire if you want.
