The max on a 30mA is 1667 as per Regs, any reading over 200 ohms should be considered to be unstable in different ground conditions, this is not a Reg though, just a good practice guideline.

Think Darren you will find it is. Though the value is only a note as such it does refer you to a further regulation and IMO the value should be lower more in line with the BS 7430, but for our regs the key word is stability.

Anything over (or actually close to) 200Ohms I would probably replace the spike. while 200 is the threshold if your close to it then under different conditions (a dry hot summer) it will probably be worse.

2 questions.
1. will your total demand exceed 63amps, answer no
2. In the event of a fault which will melt first, a 16mm cable or a fuse of less than 1mm, answer, the fuse.
Tell your assessor that 16mm tales are fine on a garage board!! As is unfortunately often the case NICEIC like to offer their own, incorrect, interpretation of things!

Solar is one of the few occasions when you are better off being registered even if you don't meet the threshold.

Lets say you buy a kit for £10000. you pay VAT at 20% so you pay £12000
now lets say you sell that kit to your customer for £16000 at 5% vat thats £800
so you have a liability of £800 VAT, but can claim £2000, so net gain is £1200 from the tax man, I thank you!!
