I might use this one for my NAPIT assessment... Would the assessor frown upon this being left in place as an isolator? eg... is it still recognised or is it well outdated?

All I can say is if you leave it and do not replace it then you you will fail your NAPIT assessment.

Really? If it's been deployed as a DP switch and not as part of the ADS system, I can't see why. ALTHOUGH - I think if it were my assessment, then for the sake of a couple of pints of Guiness I'd swap it out for a current DP iso, just to play safe.

If it were me, that assessor would have to give me a bloody good reason for failing me!! lol!!
It's not a double pole switch though it's an ELCB - there's a clue in what it says on it. If you start using it as a double pole switch it can give rise to confusion.
Why not just change it for a double pole isolator, then there's no scope for confusion?

I agree with Sparkless

I can see why it WAS there, but why would you need to replace it with an isolator?
just wire the CU direct

You don't NEED to replace it with an isolator, but many would consider it good practice to do so. He going to be removing the VOLECB anyway, so why the hell not?

As E54 says it is probably made in the days when fridges were made, for example, to last 30+ years instead of designed to fail.

most of the brick sized stuff like that I've ever come across ( oeeer missus) is in spanking good condition and Rcds usually operate in record times.

BUT as said for the sake of a few pints and the magic word "REC2" I'd change it.

the assessor might be interested in there having been an ELCB, or

he might be more interested in getting the hell out of there asap and picking up your £250 you paid for him to tell you the time with your watch while you also take the day off at your expense.

I would hazard a guess your electrician may be able to contact your DNO and have the switch swapped to a MFS very quickly..
