So why do we constantly look for a new one.

On the off chance it might be different

The op wants to check his wives friends cu , can't see and problem really , If I was him I would also check the DI as well , after all it might not be up to the job... Ps Cables I mean,,

RE done anything notifiable yet. nope not yet. took a while to get tester and tools and as i had a full time job as cnc machinist wasnt in a rush. trying to do a friend a favour and keep it safe and legit.
 
So if you're going to go down the registration with a "professional" body why not keep this job and notify it after registration.
I'm absolutely certain you did this work a week before the assessor came to visit.
