Current Frequency Counter - Wiring and Setup

The current frequency counter we ordered on Amazon has just arrived, with a vague and minimal setup manual [attached image], and no wiring diagram.

On the back panel there are 2 sets of wiring connections
labelled - Input : 5 (-) 4 (+) and Power 1 2

The input appears to be 12 VDC, so 12 volt DC adapter wires have been connected to the input.

We're reluctant to connect L1 and Neutral to the power socket without a wiring diagram.

The intended use of the meter is strictly as a 50 Hz current frequency counter, wired in
parallel with a load circuit, so no other functions are needed.

The metered current is at 230 VAC and less than 5 A
although the meter seems to be rated for 220 VAC.

If anyone here knows the correct wiring connections for L1 and Neutral,
and how to setup the meter for Hz, any help would be very much appreciated.

It's very odd indeed.

We ordered several types of meter with 7-segment LED display :
Voltage, Current, Energy, Power, Frequency... All made in China
and not a single one included a wiring diagram or a proper manual.

Contacting the seller was futile.

Searching for a diagram to this model resulted in no hits what-so-ever.

Well...Ahem...reading the part about "Attention before using" especially at 2:Wiring of terminals shall be checked firmly and correctly before electrified, suggests not as much thought has gone into this product as one would normally expect. I guess it's CE. Send it back. After all it does say wiring diagram: refer to real article, what more do you need. Send it back!

with 3 phase power options .( but may be wrong ...beware )

It's designed to be used with a CT - so one set of terminals is for the CT, the other pair is for supply, from which the frequency is derived.

It will very likely be sent back, if we don't receive a wiring diagram
in the next few days.

Thanks for the link!. These diagrams seem to indicate that 1 = L
and 2 = N on the power connectors.

In any case, we will wait for the wiring diagram before connecting power.

Ahaa! So the Input connectors are designed for a current transformer?

The instructions as posted very clearly make mention of CT and current transformer - so the first task will be to identify which set of terminals are for mains incoming, and which are for the CT.

The next task seems to be telling that POS what the CT ratio is.

If you have to ask questions like that, you really shouldn't be installing equipment like that.

Thanks to all your comments and links - I had enough information
to attempt connection of mains and CT to the INPUT and POWER terminals.

And.. It works perfectly*

I drew and uploaded the correct wiring diagram (shown below)
in case anyone is confronted with the same dilemma in future.

On a side note... The metered current frequency is 49.99 Hz
So, either the meter needs calibrating, or the mains frequency is 0.02% below 50 Hz.

That is perfectly normal, the frequency will vary slightly as loading changes on the national grid.
There is a realtime frequency monitor somewhere on the national grids website.
