CRAGS

Well the day has finally arrived . Time to do some extreme revising. Good luck to all taking the exam today. :)

De briefing later on ;)

what was the question on 3 things to requiring inspection on conduit ad trunking in a industrial chemical etching thingy me bob ?????? sorry guys heads gone all i can remember think i put corrosion, wear and tear and something else

it would be ok if you could understand what they are asking bit like my question above really

I hope so too-I've heard there was a question on surge protection devices, earth electrode resistance testers and now you're saying IT systems-I assume you mean an IT supply system?

I never even mention IT supply systems when teaching 2391-it just NEVER crops up and only serves to confuse students!

The other 2 I have covered briefly this time, I'd just like to know exactly what was asked!

there was a question with a IT system but it was just there to confuse as the answer would have been same on other systems but i cant remember as they have mashed my head
ive learned loads over last 4 months every day from 9am until 11pm or later but a lot of what i had spent time learning and memorising didnt come up like purpose of a periodic inspection or initial verification
thing that did were legal status of a inspector and sneekily status in law of inspector something similar two similar questions different answers to catch you out

materials are of the correct type and comply with BS
erected and selected properly
no damage and defects are present
aquestion for this did come up

about 80% of stuff ive memorised in Gn3 didnt come up or any of the ten or so sample papers ,osg,bs7671,electricity at work 1989, or stuff ive learned of this site like sampling or timing or pretty much anything they are complete w??????? with the way they word things

I know 2391 proves to be a difficult qual' to pass and please don't take this the wrong way but.......

Teaching and learning this subject is not a spoon feeding exercise and if you are expecting to pass by memorising past papers and the Exam Success Book then there lies the biggest problem.

You need to try and understand the subject and then apply this knowledge to any given scenario/question.

I haven't seen last nights paper but why all the fuss about a volt drop question and blaming the tutor for not putting this on a spoon. Ohm's Law hasn't changed and voltage drop at any part of a circuit still equals the resistance x the current. Its a basic principle taught in the first week of electrical theory that all of the circuit drops all of the voltage and if you connected a volt meter across any points of a series circuit there would be different volt drops dependant on the different resistances. All of these volt drops add up to the supply voltage.

2391 is a L3 qual and if you don't have this basic understanding then you are going to struggle.

No offence meant.

I found a copy of the paper on the bus going home last night. Weird!
Question 16 referred to an IT system:
"State the test instrument used to measure the earth electrode resistance fo an installation protected by an RCD and forming part of a [sic] IT system"
Does anyone know if you can even use an RCD on an IT system? Did they mean "a TT" rather than "a IT" system?
I waffled on about using an insulation resistance tester to measure the high impedance path to earth.
