a big hotel group has asked us that they want 2 way dbs in each bedroom feeding one socket and 5 lights all led fittings, but they want the supplies to boards daisy chained from 10mm t&e or swa feeding 4 rooms per circuit. the only way ive ever done this is sub per board, but cant find anything in the regs, as so many jobs this is to save money but surely its not right

we been asked to give them price, so main electrical contractor, I can share all there ideas as you all wet yourselves

Too late Mate :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5:

Go on share!

We could do with a laugh, I'm in brum so if you need any advice give me a shout!

As I just said in PM, if they want a board in each room then there are 2 ways to do it..........

16 way 3ph DB on each floor and a box of C32's. 9" tray and 35 x 4mm radials (which probably are not going to be that much more expensive than 10x 10mm radials with 4 points of connection each)

Or......

200a 3ph busbar all the way round the corridor ,
Rip all of the supplies out and fit a panel board downstairs. 100/120a 50mm SWA up to each floor and use tap offs to spread load, use a tap off to supply a communal DB for the corridors.

Legrand are in brum so a nice bit of zucchini busbar !!:)

Sounds a great idea........................Not.

Everyone gets back to their room at the same time (who are in one of the 4 rooms on the same circuit),

Switch the lights on as they get in the room as it's getting dark

Put the tele on

I'm going for a shower love! lights go on in en-suite

As it's a bit cold, Lets put the heater on,

Oh lets have a cuppa love, Kettle goes on,

Bang everything goes off

1 no kettles 2 no tvs 3 no heaters as only one socket feed via 10a rcbo, save electric, 200 watts lighting led,

Glenn, it's not a case that falcon is incapable of designing the installation. It's more of a case of not having the confidence to stand by his own ideas and risk loosing the client and the job!.

We all know wah it's like to have somenumpty who has his own idea of how it's done but not a clue, telling us how to do the job.

I would not feed a socket off a 10a mcb as the first time someone plugs in a microwave or trace stove it will pop and how basic the install sounds, makes me think it's a bit of a budget hotel, so the kind of places that would have guests bring such equipment. My lads who are staying at a park in in Liverpool have got a microwave, kettle, iron, play station etc

these rooms are so small you can even fit suitcase in them, this is not normal hotel and am not winding you up, there like hotels in japan, bed nothing else

I totally agree with you mate but he needs to gain the confidence quickly, i am sure you will agree, that this is tasty job to get.
However unless Falcon either convinces them to go with his design, or get's them to sign a Water tight contract that resolves him of any blame or financial cost when it start's to go pear shaped, he would be better off walking away.
While this could be a great contract to get, it could also be a monumental headache.
