Data down SY cable thoughts

You can get outdoor rated cat 5 , has an extra polythene coating , great stuff we use it all the time , or cat 6
Used a lot for cctv now , better in some sort of ducting but not really essential
Or as above armoured cat 5
Prob limited for 100M run ish

Regarding the "not suitable for outdoor use" maybe the thousands of offshore installations with SY widely used outside in the harshest possible conditions got 'the using it outside bit' wrong.....? Hmmmmmm

SY is used more for weight saving offshore than anything else though.

Voice data is very low bandwidth, in the kHz range. You'd get away with using bell wire or T&E if you really wanted. Ethernet has a very small CSA so voltage drop may be a problem
