We do but I guess it's extra admin and there's really no need to bother if you're not planning to be around in a few years when the **** hits the fan!

Apparently so. I noticed one ours hadn't been notified and was three or four months over. I spoke to our DNO. Their response was pretty much 'no, don't worry about it. Loads of installs aren't registered'.

If you haven't done an Electrical Certificate, you can't do a G83 notification. Might as well sack off the schematic as well.

The other element I don't understand is why DECC are talking about compulsory notification to the DNO being part of the FiT eligibility requirement when this is already effectively covered by the G83/G59 rules under the ESQCRs anyway.

Copy of the G83 notification, fine, but if they need a copy of the DNO confirmation of receipt then that's a huge problem as it can take weeks to get that back sometimes.

Well, Segen have already reacted by putting up prices. One panel I was looking at yesterday is now a couple of quid more expensive.....

Bloody hell - they've put up the inverter by £8 as well. :sick:

But, I had already generated the quote so I can get the lower price...I think it's reserved for 30 days. :thinking:

I missed the EPC carry on - that's most of my customers goosed. They rely on the pv to get the EPC up to D because so much of the area is on oil. Not the customer's fault if they don't have natural gas. 2011 all over again. Is the media picking up on this?

Our local paper has - I sent it to them, they're covering it tomorrow.

I've never actually managed to get a delivery from them on time with the right invoice. Binned them last year.

Have people seen the capacity caps proposed?

They're proposing to set it so that the second a cap is hit, all systems registered with MCS (or Ofgem) after that point will stop being eligible for that rate, and will either have to wait til the next quarter, or possibly they start the next quarters worth of cap early.

How the hell are we meant to work with that level of uncertainty?

oh yeah and the caps are tiny.

So even if we do somehow manage to get the costs down to a point where we can make it work at these tiny levels of support, we'll then hit against these capacity caps so that it's utterly impossible to get to anything close to even current levels of deployment no matter what.

This is back to the worst of the bad old days of the Low Carbon Building Programme, where budget allocations for the year would go within hours of the start of the year, so the scheme acts to restrict deployment not encourage it. Actually, I wonder if there's any wording in the original legislation that this would conflict with? In that case I think it'd actually need primary legislation to enact it, meaning an actual commons vote.

on the plus side, I think that in the right circumstances roof top commercial PV will still be reasonably financially viable if we can keep costs down.

UK PV costs though are so reliant on GBP / EUR exchange rates that any signficant rise could further decimate the industry, as there'll be no margins to absorb it.
