Do I entertain this?

Hi,

Got a call from a local hotel / Indian restaurant this afternoon, wanting a "three pin plug on the wall" for their new fryer...

Went to look as on 2 mins up the road from home, turns out they need a three phase supply for it, see photos.

The board is probably 10m or so to where the want the outlet.

Ok, so two things, the consumer unit is full of gaps, no RCD, and he wants a new circuit, and he wants the outlet above the fryer on a stainless back... hmmm

Oh he wants the outlet next to the plug... Oh which again, not exactly a sensible place is it, you can see the old fryer in position in one of the photos, oh and above is a huge fan hood thing covering the ceiling.

Interestingly the lead from the fryer has a brown, blue and green/yellow ? Yet its 415v?

Any thoughts?

Couldn't agree more my friend..... although i think UK knows his stuff but likes reassurance most of the time !!!!

Find out who supplied the fryer and check with them.
It'll almost certainly be a refurb job; big business, 2nd hand commercial kitchen gear, I think.
We had a load many years ago.

Armed with the correct information, get the new circuit in.
The place looks nice and clean, so I'd be dragging that job out over 3 or 4 evenings, courtesy vindaloo each night.

Why are you asking if someone will come and do the job with you? its a pretty straight forward job and easy enough for a electrician to complete on his/her own

That's a bit rude isn't it, no I'm not by the way, im not very qualified to level 3, and hold level 3 test and inspec and periodic and am NICEIC Approved Contractor thanks.

Thanks for the comments everyone, my point was, having never touched a commercial kitchen I tend, well not to stay away from what I know, but more a case of I don't touch what I do not fully understand, its not the connection of the cooker thing, but more the how the heck am I meant to cut a hole in the steel back plate etc, do I rip it all out? Just a few areas here that I am not familiar with nor work with on a daily basis.

I have eaten there before, and having just looked at the kitchen, I can tell you, I am very luck not to have food poisoning!

You are more than welcome to come and have a look and quote on it, he needs it connecting, I would just like a bit of hand holding occasionally when I am not 100% sure, its better than making a pigs ear of it and pretending I know what im doing.

You could always take the fast-food modular kitchen approach and just mount a ceeform outlet from above off some conduit, the isolator could go anywhere sensible.
