i think elsparko' s grasp of english grammar is excellent considering he's a jock. writes it well but can't speak it. :D:D:D.and not to be considered racist, londoners can't speak english either.

a cockney lad named smith was asked by his teacher. whats your name?
smiff, he says
is that 1 f or 2 says teacher
free says the lad.

View attachment 42590 I couldn't isolate the outside lights , hmmm
I wonder why????
Someone decided to pinch the Neutral, what a smart thing to do!
At least the thing was on when you tested, not turned on later! You were lucky.
Where was it connected? Presumably same rcd different mcb.
An argument in favour of all rcbo boards.

A good reason for proving dead and not just turning the MCB off and assuming just because the lights have gone out the circuit is dead.
True but I don't think that addresses my concern though, if a shared neutral but everything is off, the circuit will appear to be dead. In some cases the dangerous voltage will not appear until the neutrals are parted. Or not until someone uses the incorrectly wired light.
With rcbos throughout at least the circuits must be wired together correctly.

You right about the RCBO's but that still want stop these COWBOYS from creating all this rubbish.
Same job there was a N-E short, so to overcome the problem and to stop the RCD from tripping he disconnected the cpc from the consumer unit.
Only "positive" or luck for the costumer was that there wasn't any exposed live part as this circuit feeding smoke/heat detectors only.
