Right ... Just been nudged to set this up by Paul.M and sounds a good idea following recent threads I've done in the Arms..

Quite, but it sounds like they haven't been without some issues, like an electric shower that went wrong and took out the supply, and as I say, an apparent lightning strike and the fact I think the socket circuit I added a socket to was once a ring and is now two radials, one 16A, one 20A.
Getting the truth is often the most difficult part of the job , looks like the professional was the last one called ;)
 
The Vans Advertising seems to portray the things Mr and Mrs home owners like to hear namely "Rewire; certificates; and the ubiquitous false NIC EIC lable, the people that do this must realism someone will as Zdb said DOB them in, hope they get what they deserve, and if MG201's proposal ratified banned from working as Electricians, I'm sure the NICEIC will, if they see this forum or the Van take the appropriate legal action.
 
I've been going through a property this week that a diyer has done electrics for extension on. Original wiring must be from 70's in imperial sized conduit & solid core singles, still as good as they day it went in where they haven't butchered it to feed the extension.

Its been a right old can of worms but here's a couple personal favourites.

Thats a piece of 6mm T&E terminating into a 6A choc feeding a downlight, I guess he ran out of 1mm :)
