Right ... Just been nudged to set this up by Paul.M and sounds a good idea following recent threads I've done in the Arms..

Looks like a good idea to me. I'm in the middle of doing some decorating and I'm planning on putting a new socket in. If I just chisel out enough to glue the socket in then all I need to do is run a 45 deg channel to the new socket. The current one is already a spur so I'll just use 1mm cable (got a reel of black in the van) so that I don't overload it and job done. Saves on the cost of a back box and less work.

It's funny, very rare to find no box at all but I've often found dry lining and surface boxes chased into solid walls.

come across loads of surface boxes recessed into walls around my area ,
mini trunking in chases is another common thing Im finding recently on Diy rewires

...and twist those CPCs together so that you can get them into the same piece of sleeving...
