Got a call out to a tripping cooker, which turned out to be a faulty light in it.

Anyhoo, pulled the cooker out to get access in the back of it and was presented this awesome workmanship and attention to detail.

My guess is that the wires are twisted - which we all know is a time honoured and reliable connection method. But then the innovative bit is using the plugs as insulators - probably more reliable than a few turns of tape

Well our American cousins are very fond ot wire nuts, which are just slightly polished versions of them.

And yes, it is similar to something else you can't/shouldn't polish...

I've seen the old twist and tape done many a time, even on socket circuits which have been like it for years without a sign of arcing pitting etc

The new 'in-plug' connector..........rather than 'plug-in' version, I take it.

Oh yes I have seen 100s of twist and tape jobs which as you say have been in a wall or under the floor boards for decades and in full use without issue

I was questioning the use of brown wall plugs which I thought the OP might have stuck over the cables as a bit of a 'joke'
