I came across today a socket blanked off with a metal blanking plate stuck to the wall with decorators caulk. I flicked it off with ease using just a finger. Behind it was the cable just snipped off, ends left bare and still live. It was millimetres from touching the back of the metal cover plate. I isolated the circuit and disconnected it from the board for now. When I go back to deal with it I'll take a picture.

Just to note.
I've been called in to do a snag list after a recent overall of the electrical installation completed by a local, reputable electrical company.

Idiots & Morons Ltd

Please tell me that is a DIY attempt!

That looks brand new, was someone posting looking for praise for their work?!?! :D:D:D

From what I gathered from the comments on the pictures. The sparky had quoted the job and didn't get it and then a European has done it cheap and now the original sparky has been called back in to sort it out.

Another DIY attempt found this evening during a call out to an elderly lady who had no working lights upstairs after she switched the bedroom light on and it went pop. Can anyone see why the lights might not be working upstairs after a lamp blew?
At least the fuse links were the correct size!
At least you don't need to guess which fuse is the issue, it's nicely on display
