Why isn't the electric falling out of that board, is this a new technology that defies gravity?

My seven year old lad said to me last week that if you cut through a cable then the electricity would pour out everywhere ( he thought it would be similar to what water would do). Technically he could be right with a HV cable I suppose...

A very common thought when electricity was first introduced into homes, "if there is not a plug in the socket the electricity will leak out"

The ring cpc should have been continuous if the face plate was in place. I am not sure I agree with earthing a circuit through the face plate screws but earthing the back box is just acceptable.
What is the extra cable skulking at the bottom of the box?

I think it's an SFCU, so load side cable (based on the tiles, probably on a kitchen ring).

I can just about accept the CPC of one leg in each of the two earthing terminals on two terminal plates, certainly wouldn't accept one leg in the backbox and one on the plate unless the leg to the backbox carried on (and was continuous) to the plate.

You are correct. It is an SFCU. I think the CPC of one leg of the ring somehow ended up too short to reach the earth terminal of the SFCU, so instead of extending it, it was put in a convenient nearby back box earth terminal with no thought for continuity of the ring.

The face plate is a SFCU supplying a fan oven. The skulking cable runs to the oven.
