This fuse box is in the garage of my new house, does anybody know anything about it or the age of this item, I'm not sure how safe it is and in what condition the electrics are in there, so I have left it switched off, it comes straight from the electricity meter and goes to a socket, light switch and a fused spur for the outside light.

Thank you
Leo

We have still got one of these in our lounge house built 1972 had pull cord used daily gave up a year ago how much of todays will last that long ?.

Yeah I always liked the nice solid switching action on the old MK pull switches, not anything like as good or reliable now sadly. Funny how times change, I get customers asking for very quiet or even silent pullcords now.

Definitely 50s, also the double socket with four fixings.

All comments are perfectly valid. If you want to be sure, get the lot rewired. If not, forget any scare mongering over the small asbestos flash pad. Since Grenfell and after a fire prevention visit, my wife now closes the kitchen door before retiring upstairs to bed. Danger is all around, and there is more of a risk crossing the road than your installation suddenly giving you any problem.

we leave all internal doors open, that way we might hear the alarms if they activate. apart from that. it's quicker to get out through an open door than a closed one. first target would (in our case) be the back door to let the dogs out. they sleep in the conservatory.
