i like this one very much!! all found from the tinterweb though... !! lol

is this a genuine client post, or a Electrical Trainee asking if he's done it right?

I feel it's neither - no one with ANY training would do that! There is no reason NOT to create a zone with a socket directly below entry point and then clip horizontally within the zones. I very much doubt any electrical engineer or electrician or domestic installer or sparky or whatever you call us lower down the food chain has done it. I think it's either (a) DIY - and asking for confirmation or (b) Builder

Well i didn't think i would get that many replies!!

No this is not my work and i knew it had been badly done but wanted feedback to show my family. I thought that wiring placed in that position would need to be a thicker cable with extra protection. Also it just doesn't look right and as one mentioned it looks like he's run out of cable!

I'll get my parents to organise another electrician to rip it out and start again..

Thanks for your replies!!

We have already paid a company to complete the whole job.. We will have to tell them and get them to do it properly.

You absolutely NEVER pay the full money up front for substantial building work. You pay in stages as the work is completed, and to yours and the LABC inspectors satisfaction!! Your just asking to be ripped off....

might be an idea to get building inspector to look at it. his word will carry more weight than your's.

Look at it this way:

A bunch of guy’s on the Net say this is crap, or…..
The Building Inspector say’s this is crap…..

Which carries more weight?

Apparently the builders are not concreting or screeding ontop of the cable but they are installing a suspended floor.

But if they install a suspended floor shouldn't the cable be run and attached along the wood work?

The cable will need to be supported. This may be laid on the floor or clipped to the joists at the state intervals. I would recommend clipping it as it loos like the cable is under stress at the moment. Also, it is very likely that the damage will become damaged with such work still required so I would advise it is protected somehow otherwise a rip out WILL most definitely be required:thumbsup
