I just had some work adding sockets and some fused switches. But I'm concerned that the wiring at up to scratch.

Still doesn't look anywhere near finished to me. There are two brand new back boxes fitted to the wall ready for something.

You are correct, its not up to scratch!
Very poor and dangerous workmanship.
Single insulated crimped conductors, protected by duct tape! to be plastered over? Plus the other issues already highlighted.
Certainly wants reporting to the Housing Association and the electricians 'governing body' NICEIC, ELECSA or the like. Probably find a sticker on the side of their horse!

Yes I think they will plaster over.

I assure you that it was.
They may claim to be many things but an electrician isn't one of them. If we discovered any of our electricians were undertaking work to this standard they would be sacked immediately.

I assure you that it was.

then the trade has gone to the dogs

the cables in the first picture simply can not have plaster slopped over them. at very least the need reterminating inside a wago box

A fair amount of my work involves fault finding and repair. All I can think is what a pain it would be to correct if one of those joins plastered in the wall was to fail.

sledgehammer at the ready...
