Problem is, i cannot cope with not knowing, it winds me up beyond words. I am just reading and reading, watching videos and looking at diagrams.

That's good though mate.................just get someone else to do it or be prepared to prove you were 'competent' enough to do it if something goes wrong:)

DW is the man on here for that stuff I believe.

It's a Mobrey safety switch, not a plunger, my bad its an interlock.

Whilst motor is in operation, you lift the lid it cuts voltage to the motor. Upon closing the lid, you must restart the motor manually etc.

Switch is fine and up to the job.

So when you lift the lid does the motor free-wheel to a stop or does it have a break?

Correctly rated contactor, L1, L2, L3 in, back out to motor through over load T1, T2, T3, N to A1. Control circuit, A2 link to L3 to N/0 to 14/95 through to 96, through N/c stop back to L3. Thats how i see the start stop wiring, then integrating the limit switch into the control cicruit.

Ah, i didnt read your post about the motor brake. Yes it stops dead, so thats something else i overlooked. Tell me about motor brakes.

So i'm looking for a rectifier in the termination box. Is the electro-magnetic break energised/de-energised directly from incoming voltage?

Tell me about motor brakes.

How is your present motor wires up? Motors have different brakes, as you are using the existing motor the cables to the motor brake will be the same.

Wade, what is the make of the motor?

There many kinds of motor brakes, I'm not guessing!

Didn't spot that!

Seriously,
Wade without knowing the motor type/make anyone is just guessing about braking.

If the load is as I suspect a paddle mixer it won’t even have a brake, the load stops the motor.
Some of ours were so bad that on start up they would run in reverse for a couple of seconds. When the motor started forward it had half a chance of getting the heavy load moving using inertia.

I hadn't thought about that Tony, the mixer of course is never in operation when not full, i suspect you are completely right and the load (circa 150-200kgs) stops the blades. The motor is a David Brown....

And just to confirm i ran down and checked, i could turn the blades by hand when unplugged so no brake present.

Haha, if i get stroppy? I don't need a spell checker im wel gud at spelin.

Ah, because I was going to say... I'm right good at English and that, make the queen herself look like a pig farmer. Ask Tele

So is there anything to stop a numpty starting the mixer without anything in and then lifting the lid, cause the motor will still be moving, wont it?
