Hi I am new to this site and the world of electrics, I have recently signed up to do a dopmestic electrical installers course but as I understand this does not make me a fully qualified electrician, I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on what it qualifies me to work on and what the job opportunities are like for a domestic electrical installer.
Here is a list of the qualificatuins I get from my course if thats any help;
Industry Certification in Essentiasl Electrics
Emergency First Aid Certfifcate
Part P Defined Scope
C&G 2377
C&G 2330-201 (level 2 unit1)
C&G 2330-202 (level 2 unit 2)
C&G 2330-203 (level 2 unit 3)
C&G 2330-204 (level 2 unit4)
C&G 2382-10 17th Edition of the IEE wiring
Full scope part p theory and practical qualification assessments
Logic Certfication - Domestic Period Inspection Report

Many thanks

There isn't ONE qualification you can take where you can call yourself an electrician.

You can put an add in the paper and advertise to do electrical work this afternoon if you want and start working. !

however.
The extent of the work you can do, is very limited.
The more qualified you become the more you can do and sign off yourself.
The industry is a mess.
The term "electrician" is undefined in law and the business is full of rubbish terminology such as "competent person", which is ridiculously subjective.

So many guys working on their own get by with common practice and words of wisdom from mates !!
Sadly they get by and get work by undercharging against those of us that have taken the time to actually learn the theory.
I spend most of my time boshing holes in Walls and pulling cable thru. But I do know my cable calcs and Zs tables and why we have them.
Sadly, there are many who don't.
Anyway. Rant over.

how long is the course that gives you all these quals??

I would consider that seemingly impressive list to qualify you to do portable appliance testing, but not much else.
Portable appliance testing basically involves checking and rewiring plugs before connecting the appliance to a machine and pressing a button, usually in business premises.
As already mentioned the 2330 level 2 isn't worth much without the level 3 (which includes 2x 2 hr written exams and 2x 4 hr practical exams in inspection and testing, and fault finding).

no it is definitley only the level 2 that it gives me, however once i have done this would it cost me much time and money to carry on and work towards the level 3? the course doesnt have a set tinme as i do most of it from home in my own time and only have to go away for a certain amount of practical weeks

Can I ask what information you have regarding the highlighted 'qualifications'?
Also, what training provider is this?

There is a 5th and 6th unit,205 & 206, as well with the 2330 level 2. It would appear that you are not even getting a full level 2  Plus the bits they are missing out are the only decent bits - the practical !!!!

Sorry but if you can unsign from this course i would!

it is a company called train 4 trade skills that is providing me with the course material, and as yet the only information i have about any of this is a few booklets that they have given me, they have sent me BS 7671:2008 requirements for electrical installations, the on site guide, the electricians guide and also a large booklet with different modulkes for me to work through, i have paid a lot of money to enroll on this course

forget paying silly money to them for pritty much nothing as pushrod says you dont even get your full lv2 2330, get in touch with your college and get on the lv2 2330 night course before march when registration ends then once you have completed that the 2357 will be available and you can migrate your lv2 into that the 17th addition you can do anytime inbertween but i would get some over your 2330 lv2 out the way first so you understand it more. also the new 17th edition comes out in june with a new regs book so might be worth waiting for this as i am

Three years ago i took one of these courses after twenty years as a printer, you will not get a job with a company because they will laugh at your qualification you wont be able to get site work because they wont recognise your qualification. The course i did cost £6000 consisted of five modules after each module was a week at the centre with extra costs for B&B . When you finish your course you get out there is very little you can legally do without being part of a self certification scheme , NIC EIC now require at least C&G 2392 inspection and testing before they will take you seriously , and it will cost you around £600 to get registered , if they except you .
Since finishing my course i have passed C&G 2392-20 and just this year C&G 2391-10 which is very intense and full maths so dont think you will walk out and become rich. Remember each of these centres all over the country is knocking out four or five hotshots a week .
I noticed you didn't list Guidance Note 3 in your list of books, this is a must .
