Hi All , Am considering doing a rewire on a small 3-bed semi but can anyone put me in the picture regarding the requirements of 17th edition / part p regarding smoke alarms / fire protection. I.e what are the minimum requirements to date. Do i need smoke alarms on each storey or in each room e.t.c. ?

Many thanks

every floor in the circulation areas no more than 7.5m from habitable rooms, i think the kitchen needs a heat detector if it hasn't got a door on too, pg64 OSG if i remember right

Hi Mate
Get in touch with AICO and they will send you a contractors handybook. Very informative. Also check Building Regs for Electricians, Info in there on requirements. You'll also need separate certificates to sign off for Smoke detectors...
