A few things to think about, your existing wiring is red and black so you propose to use an old roll that's been hanging around for who knows how long. How do you know that this cable is still safe to use? it could have been at the mercy of damp conditions and/or rodents. Your wiring does not have to be matching like a woman's bag and shoes, the building control officer will undoubtedly tell you to rip this new circuit out and start again. Your proposed method of containment leaves a great deal to be desired.
As has been said previously, get an electrician in to carry out this work. You may be pleasantly surprised at how little this may cost when compared to the cost of, for example, a funeral.

Save running a new cable in any colour just connect a bit of flex and a plug to it then plug it into the nearest socket, will save so much hassel!
