Discuss Dual fuel towel radiator in the Central Heating Systems area at ElectriciansForums.net

I want the element to switch off whenever the central heating comes on. Regardless of the timers I've got set. Heating is on quite often in the winter, no point having the 400W element running at the same time.

Turn it off then...

? So every time I want the rad to warm up I have to think in advance and manually switch it on?

Or just have it do it automatically using the pipe stat and timer..

The stat will turn it off for me.. and the timer will warm it up before we all get up in the morning for showers/baths.

Why bother with the pipe stat? Just turn it on or off when required.

We could say the same with half the household gadgets, why bother with the remote control just go to the tele and turn it over.. we live in a lazy society and people like things they don't have to remember or manage.. convenience sells itself ;)

Maybe so, but why not.. Doesn't take much more effort and the stat is only a tenner.

as as long as it's not in some unsuspecting customers home then carry on.

me thinks the fcu timer unit is the best bet, just switch it off fro mid October to mid march when the heating should be on!

Darkwood, would it matter which leg I stick the stat on, flow or return? Both are available in a cupboard outside the bathroom which is the perfect spot for it.

No just put it on a timer FCU and set the timer for the periods you want it to turn on and off. Obviously the periods you wish to time will be set when your heating is turned off via the time clock/programmer.
