Why bother with the pipe stat? Just turn it on or off when required.
Turn it off then...I want the element to switch off whenever the central heating comes on. Regardless of the timers I've got set. Heating is on quite often in the winter, no point having the 400W element running at the same time.

Maybe so, but why not.. Doesn't take much more effort and the stat is only a tenner.
? So every time I want the rad to warm up I have to think in advance and manually switch it on?
Or just have it do it automatically using the pipe stat and timer..
The stat will turn it off for me.. and the timer will warm it up before we all get up in the morning for showers/baths.
