Hi,

I'm looking for some recommendations for ducting to use with SWA cable.
Ideally it would need to be a large enough diameter for a couple of cables.
Would be interested to know what you guys use, or have used and where it can be obtained from.
Thanks.

DIY! take it away.

Whats this comment supposed to mean ?
I'm going to take it that you mean because I'm classed as a DIYer I have no idea what I'm doing !
If that's the case why do you presume something about me when you know nothing about me, I probably no shell of a lot more than you think !
If you can't make a useful comment on what I would class is a reasonable question then why bother at all ?!
I'm not actually a full on DIYer, for your information I'm actually in the property maintenance business, its not my fault I'm classed as a DIYer on here !

The duct you want is directly available from your local builders merchants , comes in 50M rolls and is used for DNO supply cables , they also do the hockey sticks as well if you want them , oh and don't forget the marker tape to lay in the trench as well ...

Thanks Ray, I will take a look when I'm next there.
I was aware of the marker tape anyway but thanks for the heads up.

In fairness to Tony, YOU were only 2 days ago asking about what YOU need to do so you can do notifiable work........and then this thread....

Still no need for the comment though.
I wasn't asking that question so I could go ahead and do some notifiable work on the quiet, it was a genuine interest as to how people notify their work.
I have no other underlying motive to my questions, this was a simple question asking advise as to what people use/recommend for ducting/conduit.
I didn't think I would receive a smart arse comment on such a straight-forward question, it's not like I was asking how to rewire my house from start to finish.
Maybe I'll look elsewhere, because as I originally thought, I'm not going to get any sense from some people on here who are too set in their ways to provide a sensible answer !
Sorry if this offends....

There have been so many people who come on here and say I'm going to get an electrician.... then a few days later they come back and expect to be spoon fed parts lists and step by step instructions.

Stick around for any length of time and you'll see what I mean.

And your first post didn't exactl endear you to the established members here either:

To the OP. I agree with the below. You should try reading some of the posts. I also agree with you on the 'Un-friendly forum' bit. Sometimes we can come across as a bit un-friendly but again, try reading some of the posts and you may understand why.

I know what you're saying Murdoch but I thought I had asked a fairly straight-forward question ?
Its not as if I asked what tool I should use to cut the ducting, how deep it should be buried and what tool I should use to dig the trench, and I wasn't asking for specifics on cabling, how to get it through the trunking and then how I should connect it up - now that I would consider asking to be spoon fed !

My first post does prove a point though !

I didn't plan on asking loads of questions as I feel I know what I need to know most of the time, I just thought I'd ask for simple recommendations - nothing more.
If I had stated in my original question that I didn't want to be told the ins & outs of what I was doing because I already knew them, then this would have seemed brash and I would probably have been told so, so I can't really win !
I don't think I'll bother sticking around for much longer if I'm going to continue to receive the sort of comments posted by the likes of 'Tony'.
I know most trades have there fare share of a*** holes, it just seems that the electrical trade has the majority.
I'm grateful to the members who bothered to post courteous answers, but I'll not bother again !

I do understand why Spoon.
As I said to Murdoch before, I've seen some of those types of questions on here and they amaze me, and I'm not a qualified electrician !
I thought my question was fairly reasonable but it still attracted the type of attention I mentioned in my first post.
You can't tar everyone with the same brush !
I feel I'll probably get banned now as I've 'rocked the boat' so I'll log-out now and go elsewhere.
Thanks for the people who have given sensible answers.
