Any suggestions for avoiding the duplicate posts that keep happening?
I'm trying to delete mine, but there are alot!

Do you get this page coming up when you post?
[ElectriciansForums.net] Duplicate posts

I've not had trouble with duplicates, but the forum page layout was misbehaving a few days ago, stretched out and odd text, like it was struggling to follow the page layout instructions.
It's been O.K for a couple of days now.

Just come back to the forum and there's adverts in every post, the pages are jumping around trying to reload / rebuild.

Fixed this, apologies!

I'd upgraded PHP versions to test out some shop software and put the forum on a version to new for it.

07779 555 007 for future reference lads. Whatsapp me your username I'll save you now. Took 30 seconds to fix I just had stuff going on with family booo. As always near bloody Christmas, the come out the woodwork. Much prefer dogs to people lol

What version of PHP are you running so that I can look forward to it breaking my software. I'm currently running 8.1.31 I hate updating as it always breaks something.

Have about 12 versions installed on the sever and I can change them individually per site.

8.1.31 is what works. And I switched back to that.

There are 3 versions known to break this forum and I installed one of those for Magento commerce as the newest version of that has some features in that run on 8.3.14 but the forum didn't like that version at all!

It always annoys me the way they drop certain commands each version. If there's no vulnerability problem just leave it in but put a depreciated warning. At least then old software will still run.
I can alter my version to newer from cpanel but if it works, don't fix it!

There are some serious zero day vulnerabilities in even the version we both run. Server side injection through a processing thing at some point during a contact form submission. TEF ran vbulletin who are terrible for patching it up and I even spotted the vulnerability being used on their forum a couple of years back.

What it did was steal a low percentage of all traffic from Google and deliver it to a spammy page with lots of dodgy ads on etc. Low enough so the website owner has less chance of finding out.

I left vbulletin 12 years ago for the same reason. And 10 years later their newer versions still didn't address it.

And its a problem with php itself so you're always working with vulnerable software and need to be aware of how to spot changes in your stats or something.

I do all my security myself. But i see TEF opted to go with the software makers own hosting which is terrible but very secure. Just slow as hell and you cant customise files yourself on their hosting. Only on-page stuff so bad for SEO too. They don't give you access to the files when you use their hosting.
