Petrol stations are a whole different ball game. Petrol/diesel tanker drivers get paid a small fortune for a reason and so should sparks who install the electric to go in there!

I know enough to know enough that I dont know enough, so unless you know a man who knows enough to know enough of how to do it, walk well away ....... unless of course you are just carrying his tool bag!

Hi i=p/u,
I am not being obstructive, this type of installation is way outside of my competence, TNC-S is banned for a start which is probably why the earth is being segregated, this type of install tends to be highly specialised, even the cabling and glanding needs to be certified in certain areas (explosive gases/environments), it is way outside of my league (and probably most sparks too).

This subject is definitely not to be learned via an internet forum, sorry I cannot help you more, but I would not know myself what is correct and what is not.

Archy, I just so love the no responsibility bit, it didnt work with the first wife and Im still paying maintenance! But perhaps in the electrical world we can get away with it ........

I'm assuming the cable will have to be cleated well to hold it in place anyway, as a stuffing gland ain't going to hold it tight like a SWA gland...

I assume said contractor is part of a Part P scheme (NICEIC, Napit, few others..) in which case complain to them. They'll investigate (in theory)...
