We installing this panel below on Monday in a petrol station. The swa is coming in the bottom so we need to cut out square and add paxlin plate to gland into as the petrol station is not connected to earth from submain, and on its own TT system..

Hi i=p/u,
I am not being obstructive, this type of installation is way outside of my competence, TNC-S is banned for a start which is probably why the earth is being segregated, this type of install tends to be highly specialised, even the cabling and glanding needs to be certified in certain areas (explosive gases/environments), it is way outside of my league (and probably most sparks too).

This is a scan of my card ( no details of course )
This allows me to work on petrol forecourts
However I still know nothing appart from the seperate earthing requirement !

To isolate swa you could use a CMP TYPE 777 adapter, the strange thing about petrol station hazards and petrol vapours is if you get some explosives and blow the ATM out of the wall you would expect the whole station to go with a big bang but it doesn,t ???

When i think of all the petrol stations i've seen in my life overseas in the Middle East and Far East, that have absolutely no precautionary measures to electrical or any other systems against hazardous environments, ..... it makes you wonder!!

Never heard or known let alone seen a single one of these petrol stations go up in smoke with or without a big bang in all those years either!! lol!! Believe me some of them were visually absolute horrors, and you were damned pleased to being driving out of the places!!

I'm assuming the cable will have to be cleated well to hold it in place anyway, as a stuffing gland ain't going to hold it tight like a SWA gland...

I assume said contractor is part of a Part P scheme (NICEIC, Napit, few others..) in which case complain to them. They'll investigate (in theory)...
