Hi all

Just wondering why a lot of people on here say you should only earth swa at one end. If this happens what happens to the other end which isn't earthed? Is the armoring connected to gland then left doing nothing with 3rd core of cable providing earth. I thought the idea to the armouring was for it to be earthed  sorry if its a daft question! reason i ask aswell is that i have an swa termination to do soon on a tncs supply so want to get right

cheers

Hi. I've not read the post about terminating one end. It might be that they are going to put an earth rod in. And then it is recommended to disconnect the earth to the house so as to avoid the fault being diverted along the armoured back into the house. And forcing it down to earth via the rod.

I'm assuming the cable will have to be cleated well to hold it in place anyway, as a stuffing gland ain't going to hold it tight like a SWA gland...
