hi, ive just recieved my ecs card back from jib, its an electrical labourer "ancillary operative" card, which i think allows me to make tea for an electrician or scrape frost off the windscreen, (as long as someones holding my hand) ive got c&g 2391/92/93/82/77, eal level 2, 2372, 2240 (electronics) and have worked in the electrical industry for over ten years, was QS for a company for two years, ive now gone out on my own which is why i went for the ecs card, dissapointed is a good word to describe the card, ill never get any work with it, feel like ive been robbed. isnt 2391 a level 3 qualification?

someone said i have to have nvq level 3 to be "skilled", is there anything i can do, has anyone else had this experience

what are your thoughts?

:-(

Hi. If you visit their website they have NVQ3 written on it all over.

Unfortunately they now require NVQ3. You're not alone, as many others are in the same position.

Your labourers card will get you on to site and as long as there are other electricians there the site H&S people will assume you are working under their supervision.

If you want to get an NVQ3, try XS Training who are a forum sponsor and approved JIB mature candidate NVQ3 provider.

The JIB don't really care what qualifications you've got or how much experience you've got, all they're interested in is the NVQ3, or if you work for a JIB company.

That's funny I have an Approved ticket but don't have an NVQ3 or don't work for a JIB company, so how did you come to that conclusion ?

The only ways to get away with out having your Nvq3 now is to be sponsored by a JIB company or if you qualify for grandfather rights (if the Nvq3 didn't exist when you qualified). Any one who already holds a gold card will continue to hold the same grade when renewed unless you add extra qualifications that warrant a regrade.

Whether you work for a JIB company or not you won't get a ticket unless you hold certain qualifications. Don't matter the age of the certificates/paperwork as long as it was the criteria at the time.

There's no grand father rights with the JIB you are either qualified or your not.

If you hold your technical certificates but no Nvq 3 and you work for a jib registered company then they can sponsor you for a gold card. If you qualified pre Nvq then you are qualified an will be issued a gold card.

So the NVQ3 is not put together with the city & guilds and am2 etc ?

So what are the certificates you can use without an NVQ3 and get sponsored ?

Genuine questions.
