So the NVQ3 is not put together with the city & guilds and am2 etc ? Genuine questions.[/QUOTE
The nvq3 2357 is a all in one qualification, technical Certs, portfolio and am2. The Nvq 2356 is a stand alone qualification and added to your technical Certs such as 2360 1&2, 2330 2&3 and 2365 2&3.
Up until I think It was 2012 you didn't need to complete the AM2 as part of the Nvq 2356 but you do now, the new one Is called 2356-99 and is the mature candidate assessment route.
So what are the certificates you can use without an NVQ3 and get sponsored?
2360 1&2, 2330 2&3 and 2365 2&3 with no nvq3 and working for a jib registered company
Are you sure you're not thinking of GNVQs?thanks guys, ill look into nvq 3.... :-( i always thought nvq stood for "not very qualified" looks like i'll be spending even more money....
members on here were qualified before you could walk didnt need to do an nvq because they didnt exist in those daysAre you sure you're not thinking of GNVQs?
NVQ stands for 'National Vocational Qualification' and is what you need to be an electrician.
If you think you are above NVQs you could not bother and stick with your labourers card; it's up to you.

i cant see a level 3 tech cert in that list so i doubt its the missing nvq that is stopping itThe OP has been in the trade 10 years - post #1.
You needed an NVQ3 10 years ago.
I could walk 10 years ago; not sure where that came from but you seemed to think it was relevant in some way.
It is the lack of an NVQ3 that's stopping him getting a gold card. You need an NVQ3 to get a gold card, it says so on the JIB website.i cant see a level 3 tech cert in that list so i doubt its the missing nvq that is stopping it
he only mentioned eal level 2 that i assume is the tech cert
not quite, it depends when you qualified but you need the am2 and tech cert depending on what year you did them.It is the lack of an NVQ3 that's stopping him getting a gold card. You need an NVQ3 to get a gold card, it says so on the JIB website.
See post # 4.
You can do an NVQ3 without a technical certificate if you do the underpinning knowledge modules.
