electric boiler

Have wired 3 or 4 in the last year, but have not spoke to the occupiers about running costs. They are easy to install and they work well, as long as you have sufficient power entering the building ( ideally a separate phase or at least a 100 amp supply if single phase and not too much additional loading in the rest of the building)

Once had one in a mobile home , it had been fully refurbished with exceptionally good insulation above the standard of the average house .
Running costs were astronomical !!!

I made two 6KW in line boilers, which I install in to a gas CH system. They worked while E7 was available rather than using gas. They were made using two immersion heater bosses soldered in to a rolled copper tube, 15mm inlet / outlet pipes.

It saved a bit, but was a project I enjoyed, much to the wife’s annoyance when I was taking the floors up again. She was even less impressed with the control panel in the back of one of the wardrobes.

I got free technical support from the then NWEB as they were interested in the outcome. They even arranged to have a pilot signal output from the meter.

High rating heating elements x large quantities of water to heat = serious running costs!!! We have looked at many similar different systems for various requirements on our projects, none were cost effective and all were rejected!!!
