Hi all,
Might seem like a silly question, but I have a client who wishes to install a 3 phase generator to back up the supply of an office building.
The client approached me and said before the job commences, he wanted to establish if the phase rotation of the generator would match the phase rotation of the building. I think this request is more for reassurance for him than anything.
I was a little confused at first, and still am really. I told him I could test the phase rotation of the building as it is now. And that the only way of ensuring that there's no crossing of phases etc is by opening generator and identifying which cables are which, ie L1,L2 and L3, and connectors them accordingly to changeover switch.
I haven't seen the generator yet so not sure if leads must be made up or are supplied. But does anyone find this a little odd, or have any solutions to his insisting the phase rotation of generator matches the building?
Thanks
