I know armouring is ok as cpc on its own but I didn't know you could use both armouring and a core as a joint cpc

As said already just bond the supply end then it won't act in parallel with the internal cpc if you don't want it to

It's not always an option in every case.
If you don't want to don't if the armour is not acting as the cpc.
If you want to do it , do it.
