Electric Meter Box Cover Cage ?

I have been asked to repair a electric meter box, as the electric company wont juice them up without the meter box fixed.

The problem is it keeps getting vandalised!

I might just get away with fitting a new meter box door if the holes for the pins are not knackered. The customer wants some kind of protection to stop this getting vandalised again and again.

Any of you have any links to somewhere that sells a cage? or lockable metal over box?

Look at some of the Jobs i get sent to.. lovely area it is.

We have plenty of metal ones in West Yorkshire which seem to deter vandals. Something similar to this:

SSE wont allow metal meter cabinets of any sort for their equipment.

Kinda makes sense i suppose.

They do metal overboxes to fit over the existing meter box

Sorry to hear about the vandals ! after install of the required meter box you could try a high level dummy camera ! might be a deterrent.

Really!? Surely it would be beneficial to them to have the metal ones fitted on vunerable supply's. Saves them changing the service and meter. The ones in West Yorkshire area bolt in to an existing plastic box minus the door.

I've used the ones that MarkP has found in W Yorks. They have a bigger range than the Meter Box site and quite a handy fitting table here.

Try this, its like an over frame and door, goes straight over the damaged box.

Thanks 7029 dave. Jason said that SSE won't allow metal meter boxes for their equipment. Is this true?
