Electric Motor Dismantle

Hi Guys

I want to replace the bearings in my washing machine motor but I'm having difficulty in getting the screws / tie rods out.
Does anyone know what they are actually called and how to get them out without ruining them.

One of them is down a 30mm hole so not exactly easy to get at.
I’ve included a few pics.

think you'll need to get the correct tool, or you could make one by cutting a slot in a 8mm? socket with an angle grinder.

Or slot in the end of a suitable sized allen key.
It's quite a common screw head on small motors but I've never seen sockets to fit for sale.
I wouldn't buy one anyway, I'd make one.

Have you got a suitably small bearing puller if you do get the ends off?

That’s a brilliant idea, I’ve got a ¼ inch drive socket set so I will certainly be giving your idea a go tomorrow.

I’ll try telectrix idea first and see how I get on.
Regarding a puller I was going to have a look to see how the bearings are fitted, once I've managed to get those screws outView attachment 58066.

I have got a bearing splitter and managed to get the 1.5 inch o/d bearings of the shaft in my picture, but of course no doubt this will be a different set up.

Place I used to work at specialised in motor repair.
They had a set made by CK but when I wanted my own I could not find any.
Slotted small socket is best.
As previously mentioned.
