Morning, had an electric shock at work, had a few before but not like this.

Machinery casing fault caused me to touch a single phase with my hand, my other hand was touching earthed conduit, so the fault current went straight across me. completely different league to just touching a live and it going through you into the ground.
You hear of people being flung back, and this happened but I think it was just my reaction to get away.
There was a 30mA RCD, but this didn't trip, would you expect it to with this sort of shock?

Accident report handed in with reccomendation to check RCD (I'm not an electrician).

Thanks.

Probably have to go to A&E though. Don't want to worry you, but there can be post medical problems, from the type of shock you received. Seek medical advice.

Rampage, a shock across your torso or chest can have serious implications. I seriously suggest you seek medical advice, albeit you feel fine. Might be a waste of 4 hours sat in A&E, but you can't be too careful. Surprise your employer didn't recommend. At least ring NHS direct.

I know someone who suffered an irregular heart beat following a shock and didn't know about it until later, so best get checked if it went across you're body as you say...

I'm worried that as a Trainee you already have had other electric shocks + this one -- its sounding like you have had more in your short learning curve than I have had in my whole career.. hoping this isn't a trend Rampage, we would like to see our members survive their apprentice yrs. :nono:.

Glad your OK - and its unlikely you had enough current through you to trip the RCD, although it can feel like alot and give you a wake up call.

I'm fine thanks AFAIK.
I wa surprised at what it was like compared to the little earth shocks I've had before.

Get checked out! Feeling fine and being fine are different things!
It can take a few days for you to find out your not ok, and then it's too late.

The company i served my apprenticeship with had an apprentice die a few years prior to my starting there, he took a cross body shock when he cut through a live cable whilst in contact with copper pipes in a loft.
