For those of you who are interested in coming to Canada i have started this thread to give you an idea of what the work is like over here.

As ever, if you have any questions regarding the differences in methods/terminology etc then please feel free to ask

First three pics are some pipework, 70% of what you do over here is installing EMT and pulling wire through it.

Next are some typical panel shots

Then, me installing rod for cable tray in a 600,000 sq foot building. Thats a lot of rod,
its -30 degrees inside and the ceiling is sheer ice.

Then, an outdoor car park plug, I mounted and wired over 50 of these in temperatures of around -25c

many more to come......

Hey Guy's I have just been through the application process and have just sent off passports to London to have visa put in. (Wahoo!!) It cost me 5000 dollars which I think is £3000, I had a slightly complicated application and not being very good at filling in forms it was worth it, also you can ask questions about moving and health care etc and they help you until you are settled. If you want to know who I used PM me.
See you in Canada!!)

Ontario, somewhere near Toronto, but that will depend on house prices. It can be very expensive so will look for one to renovate, or just travel. Looking at Georgetown but it is expensive so Wasaga Beach or peterborogh.
But for now it is Study Study Study!!! never thought I would have to do this lot again. Found a good site http://electriciansexam.com it's free and informative. How did you study Romans?

Hi guys, great thread! I'm Canadian but I retrained when I moved over to england to be a sparks. The weather and Black flys can be a bit, extreme! You get use to it.
Nature is the dominant factor in Canada. It will Humble you!

Although It is an old enough thread, but it really attracts me and compels me to post on it.
Because I wish to go to CANADA, not for earning money but for earning knowledge.
Mr. Romans please tell me about a way through which I would be able to learn electrical installation techniques like CANADIAN installation.
I like such neat and clean designs and installation, as I am an installer too, but not really a good installer like you have shown in pictures, I want to acquire such skills in me.

Thank you, I will be waiting for your advices.

HHH

Hey Guy's I know I have asked this before but has anyone got any revision tips? Or revision schedules? I know it may be a big ask but I have the code book and the ESAT cd but anything else will help, like how did you study to pass your Red Seal exam.

Just an hour a night on the CD with the practice questions.
Maybe do the mock exam once a month.
I was working out of town for 3 months. staying in a motel in a redneck town so I was able to spend a lot of time studying.
Working also helps a lot as you can pick up the on site knowledge that isn't written in the code book.
Don't worry about it too much.
3 or 4 months regular study is more than enough.
