Hi I have had a gas engineer come to my flat today and they said that having electrical points in front of gas meter is a serious breech of health and safety can someone tell me is this true and where does that leave me with my housing association

Can you post up some pics of the offending electrics.

a photo would be a good idea. generally electrical points and gas services should be a min. of 6" apart.

Any switch gear (eg light switches, fuses/mcbs) should be 150mm away from the main gas meter.

Your Gas man may have a point.

absolutely scandalous. your choice of dvd's that is. as for those electrical points. get a local spark to relocate them.

Hate to see where the cooker is , Im surprised he didn't point out all the DVD's being where the meter is

He does have a point, they should really be moved to a more suitable position. Without compromising your self was it the housing association/landlord that put the electrics there or not, if it was, get them to move it, if not post up your location and someone on here may be able to help. Going from the photos it should be a straight forward job but it will need an onsite inspection to confirm it.

The landlord does not need to share it with you as for the burning smell the landlord should address this.
