Um I've wired an emergency light up but I can't get it to work the way I envisaged it would. I would like the light to switch on and off from a light switch when powered like any other light. When not powered I would like it to illuminate using the battery etc. Now it says in the destructions that for non-maintained remove the link. So I removed the link and it doesnt really work how I thought it would. When I switch the light switch on it turns off goes to green light. When I turn the light switch off the light illuminates. When power is switched off it seems the battery does come on so that part is working. Am I making sense. Heres a picture of the inside of the light. It does not mention s1 or s2 in the manual. Any ideas what I've done wrong? thanks

You better be winding me up.

L - N - E is your permanent supply. The PCB provides voltage to S1. If voltage is introduced to S2 the lamp lights, hence why it is lit with the link in place. If you take a wire from S1 to a switch then back to S2 then you control when the lamp lights via the switch.

I think I get this now. So L N E permanent supply. Then a seperate cable not attached in anyway to the permanent feed to a switch from s1 and s2...is that what your saying....

So you are still alive then....you can put a switch across s1 and s2.......but there maybe an easier way.
But unlike yourself...we dead test things first to prove we are correct before connecting.
Bit worried your not upto this my friend

In your defence it's a bit of a silly light fitting if you ask me. Usually the SL terminal is next to the others, not hiding up the other end of the PCB.

Not in your defence, it was pretty clear how to switch it from reading the instructions, lol.

Or if you give me the answer to post 25.....you maybe able to use 1 switch live cable into S2 terminal...as i an guessing S1 is connected on the pcb to L
But again this is why we dead test to prove it

Fitted a lot of this sort of light recently, with all tests reporting back through central Dali controller(s).
