Got my hands on a emergency light today I wired it up, thinking it could come in handy when I have got to get in lofts, turned it on and the fluorescent tube blinks then go's off when I turn the power off the emergency light works perfect, could it be a faulty ballast ? I'm a qualified electrician

Thats an interesting way of supplying light into a loft. Mind you cant say id be trying it on this occasion. I agree with the above, Head torch makes perfect sense. My led one from Screwfix has lasted me ages..

To be honest farmerian, it shouldn't take our feedback for you to realise that...i thought that was common sense across the land...i even think plumbers can just about manage a headtorch.

Ill shut up now. Appologies everyone.

I know. I can't resist sometimes though, it's too easy!

I will actually start to behave, like you promised aswell MDJ! (i give you a day, ha)

Lets see how long it lasts haha i think i may have to stop posting to keep my promise though haha.

theres nothing wrong with using an non maintained e/light, just fit a 13a plug to charge it
check the 8watt tube isnt cream crackered and that the internal batterys are ok-ish
attach it to your head with a long tie-wrap (or 3)

It is suprising how bright they are Dave isn't it? mine lights the whole loft up, very suprising really considering it is a little LED.

Yip, Mine was one of them sales where you go to the counter and say. any deicer? Errm no its June.. any screws ? Errrm no.. What about these head torch.... Errrm No Errrm go on then.. Hook line and sinker.. But yeah MDJ spot on..

Farmerian, if you do go ahead with ayjay's suggestion. Please please take a picture of it and post it up on here. I'd probably actually give you some "man points" for going all that way to avoid buying excessive batteries.
