Got my hands on a emergency light today I wired it up, thinking it could come in handy when I have got to get in lofts, turned it on and the fluorescent tube blinks then go's off when I turn the power off the emergency light works perfect, could it be a faulty ballast ? I'm a qualified electrician
 
get one of these. i can't imagine working without one.

i use a head torch as a quick fix...BUT use a an old fitting thats on a plug where possible. If head torches were the answer, surely you'd just give these to customers instead of wiring lights in every room...after all, 3AAA batteries seem to be lasting some of you a year a so...:joker:
