Emergency lights

Evening all, just wanted to check wiring for emergency lights in a landlords for a house that is being converted into 3 flats. I am right in thinking that I can take a supply from the dis board to a key switch then onto the lighting circuit and then a seperate feed from the key swicht to the emergency lights?

as long as your emergency lights are fed from the local lighting circuit. i would prefer the keyswitch not to interrupt the existing lights, but just cut the supply to the em's. if the keyswitch feeds the existing ( main ) lights, it could fail and you would lose the lights.

There is another thought that the lights should be run through the key switch so that you are creating a "power cut" which also proves the lights and emer lights are on the same circuit when tested.
personal choice as far as I am concerned, a bit like the smoke detector on the lighting circuit in domestic premesis

personally, i only install keyswitches when there would be a danger or nuisance caused by turning off the light circuit to test.
